Earthome has designed a whole range of #furniture for different clients since its inception in 2010. Some of our most enjoyable pieces to design and make has been the #church #furniture that we have designed specifically for our customers. It all starts with a discussion and then a site meeting to measure the space and ask questions to try to understand exactly what the customers needs and desires are for their space. After establishing the design brief and the perimeters for the space. We set to work on concepts that take inspiration from their surroundings and from the discussions we have. As part of the creative process we create a narrative, that may include a metaphor or use symbolism to create pieces of furniture that have meaning and purpose for the environment they will go in. We then provide initial sketches before agreeing on a chosen piece or group of furniture. Following the agreement of concept, we model the ideas in 3D on CAD and make small models or 3D print the items to check their balance and proportions. Following any tweaks and refinements in the design. We produce 2D working drawings from the 3D CAD models, order the materials and start construction. We combine hand crafted Deer we techniques with modern technology in order to produce our furniture. Some of the more intricate parts maybe cut out on a computer aided router from the drawings, or we may use templates that have been machine cut to ensure quality and accuracy in constructing the final piece. We finish our furniture in a natural wax/oil finish and deliver it personally to our customers as we like to see their positive reactions to our pieces when positioned in their intended environment. We have produced a whole range of different types of church furniture over the last fourteen years from #ambos to #fonts made in oak, ash and walnut for school chapels and for churches. The first piece we produced was a #processionalcross and stand for @newhallschool. The cross had their distinctive double cross design. It had different shaped parts on the handle out of different materials to mark where to hold the cross. The concept was created to celebrate difference in the community and the importance of including everyone. We were commissioned several years later to make a smaller version of the same design for the pre-prep students to carry in their Chapel. Do take a look at some of our church furniture designs.
