Solid Ash Tabernacle Stand for St Benedict’s School in Colchester
Community was the main focus when developing the concept for the range of furniture commissioned by St Benedict’s School for their renovated Chapel.
Ambo - designed and made for St Benedict’s College, School in Colchester. The concept involved combining overlapping forms that represent the importance of their inclusive community. A nod to the Lampedusa cross, is important in representing the school’s values of supporting others and helping those in need, important messages that were encompassed in the narrative of the design. The shape of the Ambo is symbolic of the school’s motto of ‘prayer and work’, with two hands coming together in front of a bible. The design also includes a reference to the stained glass windows designed by the students and the curvature in the font outside of the Chapel. The wavy nature of the solid Ash at the front of the Ambo refers to a sea of wheat, a respect for nature and the feeding of a community.
